Integration connects NEOGOV and NEOED applicant tracking systems with HireRight’s background screening platform, helping HR teams to work faster while maintaining a positive candidate experience
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (Oct. 6, 2026) - NEOGOV today announced an integration with HireRight that allows public sector agencies and educational institutions to initiate and monitor background screenings directly within their existing NEOGOV and NEOED recruiting workflows. The partnership streamlines hiring, supports compliance, enhances the candidate experience and helps customers make more informed hiring decisions.
Public sector and education employers often navigate complex hiring and compliance requirements. By connecting HireRight’s background screening services with NEOGOV Insight,NEOED Insight and its Online Hiring Center, the integration reduces manual handoffs and duplicate data entry while giving recruiters greater visibility into the screening process.
“Public sector and education employers hire under strict compliance requirements and tight timeframes. Every handoff between disconnected systems in that process presents a risk,” said John Peek, chief strategy officer at HireRight. “Our integration with NEOGOV removes those handoffs, so HR teams can initiate and track screening inside the same workflow they already use for recruitment and onboarding. That means less friction for the people running the process and a more consistent experience for candidates.”
Recruiters can select and initiate a HireRight screening package from Insight or Online Hiring Center. Relevant candidate and job information is then transferred to HireRight, and candidates are invited to complete the required forms through HireRight Applicant Center. Screening status updates are returned to NEOGOV or NEOED, where recruiters can monitor progress and access the detailed HireRight report.
Depending on the organization’s HireRight package, available services may include criminal background checks, employment and education verifications, drug and health screening, and sanctions or monitoring services.

Organizations with active NEOGOV or NEOED and HireRight accounts can enable the connection through the NEOGOV or NEOED Integrations area using their HireRight account credentials. Organizations that do not currently work with HireRight will need to establish a HireRight account before activating the integration.
